Milbemax Broad-Spectrum Dewormer for Dogs & Puppies

Milbemax comes in two strengths:

Puppies & Small Dogs
Milbemycin Oxime: 2.5 mg
Praziquantel: 25 mg

Dogs over 5 kg
Milbemycin Oxime: 12.5 mg
Praziquantel: 125 mg

Milbemycin oxime targets susceptible roundworms, hookworms and whipworms, while praziquantel provides activity against tapeworms.

One of Milbemax's biggest advantages compared with products such as NexGard Spectra and Simparica Trio is the inclusion of praziquantel, which provides direct tapeworm treatment.

Minimum Age: From 2 weeks for the appropriate puppy/small-dog formulation

Minimum Weight: 0.5 kg

Suitable For: Routine broad-spectrum deworming and dogs requiring roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm treatment

The South African Milbemax information also provides a specific puppy deworming schedule beginning from two weeks of age.

Administer Milbemax orally as a single dose with or after food. Select the appropriate tablet strength and dosage according to your dog's current body weight.

Puppies & Small Dogs

0.5–1 kg | ½ tablet

1–5 kg | 1 tablet
5–10 kg | 2 tablets

Dogs over 5 kg

5–25 kg | 1 tablet
25–50 kg | 2 tablets
50 kg | Use an appropriate combination of tablets according to body weight

The minimum recommended dose is 0.5 mg milbemycin oxime and 5 mg praziquantel per kg of body weight.

Routine Adult Deworming: Every 3 months / 4 times per year.

Puppies: At 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks of age, then every 3 months according to the South African product information.

Spirocerca lupi: Monthly treatment at 28-day intervals is recommended when Milbemax is being used specifically for Spirocerca prevention/control.

Dogs with an active worm infestation or a higher parasite risk may require a different treatment schedule. Consult your veterinarian where appropriate.
